In this final revision i fixed the alignment of designs from page 1 to page 2, fixed the font size of the pages so it easier to find, and adjusted text positioning of some of the article titles and the corresponding page numbers to it.
This planned on being my final revision for my table of contents. In this updated version i changed the pictures to align better with the page as well as changed the background image to do what i see as a better design thats not only flashy but still fits the theme of the cover as i wanted to in my second revision. As seen though i will have to fix some issues such as placement of the design pictures since they do not align with one another
Camerawork- There was a variety of different Camera shots during this video. Some examples of the camera shots I found were the Medium shot showing what the wife and husband were doing at separate occasions, Long shot used to show both actors downstairs and the background of the scenery down there, over the shoulder shot in many different situations such as when: Wife walked down in the basement camera was shown over husbands shoulder, Husband with hammer in hand shown over wife's shoulder, and after the murder as he struck her repeatedly with hammer, extreme closeup with hammers, and over the top as husband grabbed gun on the top shelf.
Sound- The sounds varied over different portions of this video. In the beginning the Silent enough so you can hear footsteps and other sounds that is not specifically focused on which makes it feel more immersive. Other sounds occurring as it was quiet included sounds such as him loading up the gun, hitting the phone against the wall as well as picking up the phone and opening and closing the doors. Sounds when it wasn’t silent consisted of ambience sounds and different background sounds such as when dramatic murder takes place and the phone call. Mise en scene- The mise en scene that took place in this video had a variety of different example that could be pointed out. These included certain aspects such as the Husband with injured nose and baggy eyes showing distress, Basement had background of tools and posters that were being focused on throughout certain frames showing what he was focused on during confrontation with his wife. As he struck his you can see him panicked as his wife eyes light up and then switches back to himself which showed his lips quiver and mouth drop and eyes become surprised. Actors and camera shots were also placed in certain positions to show background attributes to the scene such as after the murder showing the washing machine which started the argument and then when he was on the phone it showed all POVS around him to show his house which seems homely which. Editing- The editing that took place during this video mostly consisted of raw editing and few transitions, however, they used zoom effects on things such as the poster, hammer, and wife's bloody face. There was also track movement which followed the husband as he walked around the basement towards his tools. Transitions, however, rarely used, were shown in some scenes such as when the closet door opened and closed as he was practicing what he was going to say in the mirror. For my final magazine cover i did not change any part of my main design as i felt my first revision was very good. I did make one change to the font and color of my masthead and changed it from light-blue to red with a more easy to read font. Other then that everything stayed the same.
For my critical reflection presentation i used the site slides.com which i felt was the easiest possible way to show images from my magazine development and give a lot of necessary info about it in typing as well. Due to this being a presentation and not just an answer to a question I added a lot of new information and corresponded them to how my production went with the magazine.
Mise-en-scene elements and their explanations
Setting- The setting is an essential part of Mise-en-scene because it is literally where the scene occurs. This has a significant impact on the visual representation of the scene as well as the attitude that is being developed in said scene. For example, a dark room would show convey a dull mood while a bright room would convey an upbeat mood. This is essential because these aspects of the film are very important and is why it is an essential part of Mise-en-scene. Decor- The decor is an essential part of Mise-en-scene because it is involved with the setting and is usually in the background. If analyzed however it has some symbolic meaning based on the film or scene. This can include a color that can symbolize emotion or attitude towards something or someone. Lighting- The lighting is an essential part of Mise-en-scene because it can set the mood for a scene. A way this can be done is by the contrast with the lighting. For example, low contrast lighting can make a scene seem romantic while high contrast lighting can make a scene seem more dramatic. This is particularly important because it sets the tone for a scene alike most of the essential elements of Mise-en-scene. Depth of space- The depth of space is an essential part of mise-en-scene because it determines the distance between an abundant number of occurrences in a shot. This includes people, objects, sceneries, and cameras which is important because it puts everything in the scene together and makes watching the scenes easier to be dictated by directors. Costumes and makeup- The costumes and makeup are an essential part of mise-en-scene because depending on how these aspects are used, it can determine how a character is perceived by an audience. For example, if a character were rich, they could wear a suit or a dress while the foil would be possibly dirty or ripped up clothing. This is all very important towards the scenes and projects an extra element that can be looked at by audiences. For my finished double page spread i decided to make some minor changes just to clean up the look as well as fix some unlooked at errors. To start with i made some changes to the design, this was done in the way of fonts, and color to match well with the theme i went for from the beginning. I changed the font color to black and added a different font color to the numbers to flush out the look so it is more attractive. In addition to this i also added a splotch black background behind the photo to add contrast to the page so its just plain white/gray. I also removed an accidental price tag that was not deleted from the template i started with. Other then that no major changes were made as i felt like this page was done already very well.
After completing my first draft of the magazine cover i came to the realization about how low my designing skills were and that i was in dire need of learning how to make a good magazine cover. Due to this, I studies and looked at examples of popular sports magazines and I realized my issue, not only was i using a software that was very poor, I also did not know how to make an eye appealing cover. After realizing my mistakes and correcting them I completely changed everything that had to do with my cover such as the fonts, color schemes, title, images, spacing of text and the masthead. I feel like I improved greatly from my first revision to this one and although i may make a few more changes I feel like this very well could’ve been my final draft due to how much I've improved.
